Fieldnote 008: Bounded Rationality & The Fitness Landscape
Log Entry: The Crucible of Rigor
Hoffman asserts that evolution tunes perception strictly to fitness, destroying objective truth. To prove this without philosophical hand-waving, we turned to Information Bottleneck theory on Riemannian manifolds.
We proved that for generic fitness landscapes, the level sets of utility almost never align with the metric distance balls of the physical world. Therefore, any organism operating under a strict Shannon channel capacity ($I(X;Y) \le C$) must actively collapse topologically distant points if they share the same utility. Isomorphism is mathematically forbidden by the economics of information.
